Blizzards. Love 'em or Hate 'em?

Well, it’s arrived.  The Blizzard for the next generation.  Now our children can have a flavor of ourBlizzard of ’78.  They can see a bit of what we felt ‘lo those many years ago.  I was a child at the time, and I remember feeling like school was shut down FOREVER.  Time plays tricks on us, however, and I have now come to realize that school was probably not shut down forever.  But, at the time, it did feel like it.
The clock isn’t really ticking according to Big Ben anyway,  but moves faster or slower depending on where WE are.  And I guess that’s the case with me and my recollections of the Blizzard of ’78.
And back then, well, I am pretty sure the blizzard shut down the world for two weeks.
During this storm, I thought I would throw out some of the pros and cons to the blizzard.  And you tell me if you are a lover or a hater of the Blizzard of 2013 (or any blizzard for that matter).
Since I am a summer girl, which I think I have mentioned five thousand different times over the last year, I will start with the yucky things (aka the cons) about the blizzard.
  1. It’s cold.
  2. No school
  3. The world stops
And now the great things about blizzards:
  1. It’s cold.
  2. No school
  3. The world stops
As with anything in life, it is all about perspective.  The list is exactly the same, but it is whether or not we view it as a gift or something terrible.  As much of a summer girl as I am, I recognize I am in no position to fight with Mother Nature, nor do I want to.  Something I always strive to do, however, is to see the best in any situation.  I try not to define it as bad ever – if I can help it.  (Sometimes, I just can’t).
I will choose to embrace the snow, embrace the world stopping.  I will play board games and drink hot cocoa.  I will not get dressed.  I will lounge around in my ever-famous but disgustingly dirty bathrobe.
And maybe, for a moment, I will pretend I am a Winter Girl.
Did you enjoy or shake your fist at the blizzard of 2013?  Pro or con? Would love to hear your comments!
