It's true, winter is a time for hibernation. The bears do it. The birds escape. And so, it is no wonder we find it difficult to get out there when we peer out the window and see the snow. With that thought in mind, I thought I would do a list of why you should get out there, regardless of the weather. Believe me, I think I have mentioned, I am a summer girl. Winter is not my season. I need this list and this reminder as much (or more!) than you.
1. It's pretty. The scenary IS beautiful.
2. There ARE clothes that exist that will keep you warm. It's not ideal that we are all bundled up and not in shorts, but at least there are warm weather clothes for this season.
3. You'll feel better AFTER. And maybe, if you keep an open spirit, you will feel better DURING the run, too.
4. You get more intimate with the world around you. Do you know how many of us really do hibernate all winter? By forcing yourself outside, you are with the elite group of folks who actually witness winter weather in a closer way.
5. You will probably have to change your route - which can be a cool thing. Oftentimes, we remain resistant to change. Yet this forces us to switch gears and make new discoveries.
Ok, I can only think of 5. I told you, I am a summer girl. But 5 is still good. Feel free to add to it if you can think of any other reasons why us crazy runners are out there year round.
