Revitalize Your Running

There is something to be said for the well worn path.

How many of us have been running the same routes at the same pace for years? I know I have.

Are you feeling bored with your running routine?  Lacking the energy to stay motivated?  Caught in the doldrums?

Springtime is a time of rebirth – of revitalizing and new growth.  There’s an excitement in the air.  Something is blooming….

And it’s your new running routine!

This is a really good time, particularly coming off the darkness of winter, to add life back into your runs.  I would encourage all runners out there to super-charge your runs…

And just to be convenient, I have put a list below:
1.  Change your route.  Go by the woods, see where trees and flowers are making their spring appearance.  Run by a lake, pond, or some body of water.
2.  Ditch the running buddy (or get a running buddy!) – eg, change up the norm.  If you run alone, try a group.  And vice versa, if you chat it up during your runs, make some of your runs quiet and reflective.
3.  Get some jazzy new shoes!  Ok, this one really is just for fun.  And that’s the point.  Add new life, new shoes, into your workout.
4.  Find a race and train for it.  Make it a fun run – not too serious or heavy duty.  Yet, at the same time, it’s a goal to shoot for.  Remember, this is about recharging your routine, so don’t get all serious and spazzy – focus on feeling happy.
5.  Remember why you started running in the first place.  Go back to that and really feel it, really remember it.  That may be all that is needed to recharge your routine.

Kick it up and keep running!  Hope something in this list spoke to you and keeps you chugging along!
